경기도 남단, 평평한 대지 곳곳에 연못이 많아 이름 붙여진 ‘평택(平澤)’에 도서 복합문화공간 止觀書架 지관서가가 2025년 가을, 새로운 둥지를 틉니다. 평택 팽성읍 안정리는 세계 최대 규모의 주한미군 기지 USAG 험프리스가 자리한 지역으로, 유동 인구의 70% 이상이 외국인일 만큼 다문화가 공존하는 특별한 마을입니다.

Comes from its flat lands and many ponds, the cultural book space Jigwanseoga (止觀書架) will open a new home in the fall of 2025. Located in Anjeong-ri, Paengseong-eup, Pyeongtaek, this town is home to USAG Humphreys, the largest overseas U.S. military base in the world. With more than 70 percent of its floating population being foreign nationals, Anjeong-ri has become a unique community where diverse cultures coexist.

다민족, 다언어, 다문화가 한데 어우러져 공생하는 이곳, 평택 지관서가의 인생테마는 ‘사랑(Loving-Kindness)’입니다.

인류의 근원적이고도 본질적인 가치인 ‘사랑’과 '친절'의 성찰과 회복을 통해, 다른 민족, 다른 언어, 다른 문화 사이에서 서로 공감하고, 공유하며, 공존하는 법을 사유하는 평택 지관서가는 KAIST 명상과학연구소의 과학적 연구, 시대적 가치, 실천적 제안을 담은 북큐레이션 및 명상 프로그램과 함께합니다. 오늘 이곳에서 다시 사랑을 만나고, 사랑을 감각하고, 사랑을 성찰하고, 사랑을 명상하세요.

Here, where many peoples, languages, and traditions live together, the life theme of the Pyeongtaek Jigwanseoga is “Love (Loving-Kindness).”

Through reflection and restoration of love and kindness, humanity’s most fundamental and essential values, Pyeongtaek Jigwanseoga seeks to explore how people of different nations, languages, and cultures can empathize, share, and coexist. In collaboration with the KAIST Center for Contemplative Science, the library will present book curations and meditation programs that bring together scientific research, contemporary relevance, and practical guidance. Here, today, encounter love, sense love, reflect on love, and meditate on love.
